More About our Skateways

Skateways are a type of ice surface most often used to connect other ice rinks to each other, for easy transport between them. But even though the idea was to draw ice-covered roads between places, it also creates a wonderful atmosphere and a unique ride experience that you won’t find in many other places. As our skateways shape themselves to the landscape, there are ups and downs, twists and turns. It is more like a walkway than an ice-covered lake.

Here you can glide along at your own pace, perhaps have a long-awaited conversation with a good friend, stop by the fence that frames our skateways – or why not use the fence as a tool to improve your backwards skating?

Whatever you choose to do, you’ll be greeted by a new kind of experience on ice; something you don’t really get when you go on a traditional lake ice, hockey rink or bandy pitch.
